City of Rensselaer Electric Utility
Lineman/Apprentice


The City of Rensselaer Electric Utility is seeking a lineman/apprentice who has completed a 4 year Apprenticeship Program. This is a full time position and must be able to work overtime if needed. Will be subject to drug and alcohol testing.
 
Applicant must have a minimum of a high school education or  equivalent. Must be able to obtain a CDL within one year of employment. Applicant must be able to work on energized and de-energized overhead and underground circuits and equipment, climb poles and work at various heights installing and replacing primary/secondary lines and equipment such as transformers, switches, cutouts, etc.

Town of Veedersburg
Journeyman Lineman

The Town of Veedersburg is looking for a Journeyman Lineman to fill a position with the town's electric department, located in Veedersburg, Indiana.  Qualified candidates should meet the following characteristics:
1.       Shall be a certified journeyman lineman
2.       Shall be able to operate all equipment used in the department
3.       Shall work in a safe manner
4.       Shall work under the direction of the superintendent or assistance when working with primary or secondary wiring, maintain existing system, tree trimming or replacing poles.
5.       Shall be able to work in a bucket truck with live-wiring
6.       Shall know how to efficiently use capacitors, substations, transformers, etc
7.       Shall know and follow electric codes
8.       Shall be expected to answer power outage calls when called by the week-end on call person or the council
9.       Shall be able to hookup dead service and secondary wiring
10.     Shall be able to provide manual labor when required in getting any and all jobs done

Indiana Municipal Power Agency, a wholesale electric generating and transmission company located in Carmel, Indiana is looking for an energetic individual to assist with the planning and implementation of an on-going, comprehensive member services effort that will enhance IMPA’s relationships with its members, enhance the members’ relationships with their customers and enhance awareness of the Agency.

Communications Specialist

Indiana Municipal Power Agency, a wholesale electric generating and transmission company located in Carmel, Indiana is looking for an energetic individual to perform communications and member services functions for the Agency. 
 
Responsibilities include writing articles, preparation and production of newsletters and various other materials, design of communications pieces and various member services functions.  There will also be involvement with IMPA’s online presence, including website, e-mail targeting, social media, blogs and other online tools.  This position will also be responsible for leading the planning, coordination and communication efforts for IMPA’s training programs and events hosted by IMPA’s Member Services department.
 
Candidates for this entry-level position must have strong writing, interviewing, graphic design/layout and organizational skills.  Must be willing to travel extensively (approximately 50%) throughout the state of Indiana to member communities.  Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines is critical.  Experience with Microsoft Office and desktop publishing software required, Adobe Creative Suite preferred.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Arts, English, or related field is required.  Competitive salary and benefits package.

Safety Manager
 
Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA), a wholesale electric generating and transmission company located in Carmel, Indiana, is looking for an energetic individual to develop and coordinate its safety and training programs for its electrical line workers and power generating facilities and ensure that IMPA is compliant with all workplace and industry safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
 
Responsibilities include:
 
· Review current policies and procedures, and perform safety assessments to ensure compliance
 
· Manage workplace emergency and safety processes
 
· Develop, coordinate and conduct training for IMPA employees, including coordination of lineman apprentice training
 
· Coordinate safety and educational training programs
 
The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of safety and training experience and be able to develop and/or present effective training and classroom instruction. Electric utility industry and Journeyman Lineman experience are preferred.
 
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Safety and Engineering, Industrial Technology or a related major from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Instrument and Control/Electrical Technician
 
Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA), a wholesale electric generating and transmission company serving 61 municipal electric utilities, is looking for  an Instrument and Control/Electrical Technician to fill a position at Whitewater Valley station, a coal-fired, steam generating power plant located in Richmond, Indiana:
 
The ideal candidate would have a strong background and knowledge base of installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of power generation control systems and electrical equipment. Experience with PLCs, computer systems and software is required. Applicants should have electrical safety knowledge and experience having worked with and in the vicinity of high, medium, and low-voltage electrical equipment.
 
A minimum of High School diploma with applicable equivalent job related experience in power generation or industrial manufacturing is required, and an Associate’s Degree or higher in electrical studies is preferred.
