Argos, IN – U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, representative of the 2nd District of Indiana, was on hand in Argos on August 14 to tour the Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) Argos Solar Park.  Representatives of IMPA, as well as town and utility officials from local public power communities, gathered with Walorski to discuss issues affecting municipal electric communities and the industry as a whole.
“The IMPA solar park in Argos is a perfect example of the innovative energy solutions Hoosiers are leading the way in developing,” said Congresswoman Walorski. “I am committed to working with IMPA and local leaders to advance all-of-the-above energy policies so our communities continue to have an affordable, reliable power supply.”
“We sincerely appreciate Congresswoman Walorski’s time today, and for lending an ear to the concerns and issues affecting Indiana’s municipal electric utilities,” commented Raj Rao, President and CEO of IMPA.  “Representative Walorski has always been a strong supporter of IMPA and the ideals of municipal electric communities.”
Walorski joined Rao and other IMPA personnel as well as representatives from the communities of Argos, Bremen, Etna Green and Walkerton in touring the facility.  The visit was an excellent opportunity to showcase the solar park and emphasize IMPA’s efforts to maintain a balanced, all-of-the-above approach to power supply.
The IMPA Argos Solar Park is a 700 kilowatt (kW) solar facility that was energized late in 2015, providing the town with a viable source of renewable energy.  The park sits on over six acres of land, and contains approximately 2,700 fixed-tilt solar panels.  Real-time generation information for the park is available on IMPA’s website at www.impa.com.

The Indiana Municipal Power Agency is the not-for-profit wholesale power provider to 61 cities and towns in Indiana and Ohio who own and operate the municipal electric distribution systems in their communities. IMPA member communities deliver electric service to approximately 330,000 individuals.  For more information, visit www.IMPA.com.
