Our Mission
IMPA works with its members to serve YOU – our coworkers, our neighbors, our friends. We are people-oriented and community driven; we strive to provide you with power, while empowering the communities we call home.
Together, we are providing a wide array of services to help customers meet their energy needs and ensure a supply of low-cost, reliable, and environmentally responsible electricity for generations to come.
As a non-profit organization, we don’t report to shareholders or maintain a high profit margin. Public power has historically been able to offer members low-cost power. For example, in 2021, the average public power customer saved 40% over other utility providers.
Where Does Your Power Come From?
IMPA is committed to providing environmentally sustainable electricity to its 61 member communities, using a mix of coal, natural gas, renewables, and purchased power.
Our unique solar program also plays an important role in serving the power supply needs of cities and towns. Our member communities and their customers can take pride in the fact that IMPA’s solar parks are constructed in our member communities. By investing in infrastructure in the communities we serve, we also provide jobs and economic opportunities for our members.
Community Impact
IMPA’s member communities are more than just your power suppliers; they’re your friends and neighbors. We live, work, and play here in Indiana, and believe in giving back to the communities we call home.
We are embedded in our communities and support local programs. You’ll see IMPA supporting local events and providing community workshops and presentations. But we’re also behind the scenes supporting charitable, educational, and beautification programs throughout our member communities.
At the end of the day, IMPA goes above and beyond just keeping the lights on. Because we call Indiana home, just like you do.
