Argos’s Jamie Lindstrom Earns “Seven Hats” Award

6/22/2021

June 22, 2021 – Jamie Lindstrom, Argos Superintendent of Utilities and Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) commissioner, has been named a winner of the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Larry Hobart Seven Hats Award. This prestigious honor was awarded to Lindstrom on Tuesday, June 22 at APPA’s 2021 National Conference in Orlando, Florida.
This nationwide award recognizes managers who serve in smaller communities and whose variety of management responsibilities extends well beyond those of a manager in a larger system with larger staff. The award is only given out to a select few whose systems serve 2,500 electric meters or less. Recipients of this award must fill multiple roles in their community, excelling in seven distinct categories: planning and design, administration, public relations, field supervision, accounting, human resources, and community leadership.
As the Superintendent of the town of Argos, Lindstrom oversees all planning and design aspects for the community’s four separate utilities: electric, water, wastewater, and street. Lindstrom is responsible for a host of administrative responsibilities, including approving all utility claims, approving billing, keeping track of all four utilities’ expenses and revenue, and ensuring that rate studies are conducted. His knack for numbers and planning has helped to keep utility rates in town at a stable, suitable level for years. Lindstrom is a hands-on leader who involves himself in every aspect of utility work, including routine maintenance, linework, and responding to natural and man-made disasters. Whenever the town experiences a power outage, Lindstrom is one of the first on the scene to find a solution and get the community’s lights back on. He is respected by town employees due to his continuous support of their efforts, and his positive attitude and approachableness are noticed by everyone in the community.
The skill and hard work that Lindstrom dedicates to his community each and every day shows why he was honored by APPA this June. IMPA, Argos’ wholesale power provider, was happy to congratulate him on his distinction as a Larry Hobart Seven Hats winner.
“Jamie’s commitment to the community of Argos is remarkable,” said Raj Rao, President and CEO of IMPA. “It’s wonderful to see his work being honored on the national level by APPA, and we at IMPA are thrilled to congratulate Jamie on his well-deserved award.”
