Frank Smardo named Chief Operating Officer of Indiana Municipal Power Agency


The Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) has named Frank Smardo as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Smardo steps into the role of COO following Jack Alvey’s selection as IMPA’s President and CEO.
            Mr. Smardo has been with IMPA since 2001, when he joined the Agency as Planning Engineer. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President of Energy Solutions for the Agency and previously held the role of Senior Vice President of Engineering. In this new role, Mr. Smardo oversees IMPA’s generation assets, compliance, resource planning, rates, billing, and market operations. Mr. Smardo holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, and an MBA from the IU Kelley School of Business.
