FRANKFORT - The nation's largest snack maker has announced expansion plans in Frankfort. Frito-Lay, which is owned by PepsiCo Inc. (Nasdaq: PEP), says it will pump $159 million into its Clinton County operations and add 50 jobs. Plans call for two new production lines and more warehouse space. Frito-Lay currently employs around 1,100 in Frankfort at two production sites in the city. Its footprint includes 135 acres and 17 snack production lines.

Frito-Lay's significant financial investment and desire to create more jobs are shining examples of their continuing commitment to thrive and succeed here while strengthening our local economy and enhancing our industrial workforce and their employees' quality of life."

The company plans to add 210,000 square-feet. The city says Frito-Lay has been offered up to $550,000 in conditional tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
