Site Selection Names Indiana Municipal Power Agency Top Utility in Economic Development

9/3/2019

ATLANTA, GA – Site Selection Magazine has named the Indiana Municipal Power Agency as one of its Top 20 U.S. Utilities in Economic Development for 2019.

In its September issue, Site Selection Magazine featured its annual rankings of Top U.S. Utilities in Economic Development. Utilities chosen for the designation are determined by examining corporate end-user facility project activity in 2018 within utilities’ service territories, and calculating those projects’ jobs and capital investment numbers on a cumulative and per-capita basis. They also consider economic development programs and incentives for business, including energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, marketing/outreach, and rates.   IMPA was selected for the honor based on the job creation and capital investment commitments announced from project activity in 2018 within the IMPA service territory.

“IMPA is thrilled to be named as one of the top U.S. utilities for economic development,” commented Bryan Brackemyre, Vice President of Member Services for IMPA.  “We take pride in working with our member communities to attract businesses and industries to help grow and strengthen their economic base and quality of place.”

“The elite Top 20 we named this year earned the honor amid a field of around 3,300 electric utilities across the country,” says Managing Editor Adam Bruns of the rankings Site Selection has published since 1999.
Winners of the designation were selected from across the country and include investor-owned utilities, rural electric cooperatives, and municipal electric utilities as well as joint action agencies.  IMPA is one of only two Indiana-based utilities to receive the distinction.

IMPA is the wholesale power provider to 61 cities and towns throughout Indiana and Ohio that own and operate the municipal electric distribution systems in their communities.  IMPA members deliver electric service to approximately 340,000 individuals.  For more information about IMPA, visit www.impa.com.
