IMPA Named Recipient of Excellence in Public Power Communications Awards

CARMEL, IN – The Indiana Municipal Power Agency was named the recipient of two communications awards in the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Excellence in Public Power Communications, announced during APPA’s virtual Customer Connections Conference (October 27-28).

IMPA’s 2020 Annual Report, entitled “Transformation”, received an Award of Excellence from APPA in the print/digital category, while the Agency’s April social media campaign on Lineworker Appreciation Day received an Award of Merit in the digital/social category.

The annual awards recognize excellence in communications by public power utilities. The entries are judged in three categories: print/digital, web/social media, and video. Awards were given to those that showed ingenuity and creativity in telling their stories through outstanding copy, design, financial data presentation, graphics, social media engagement, video editing, and web layout and interactivity.  Across the nation, 42 public power electric utilities and utility organizations earned Excellence in Public Power Communications Awards from APPA.

This year’s awards were judged by Leigh McGuire, Director of Marketing and Communications at The Monitoring Association; Kesha Willis, Director of PR and Communications at the Society of Breast Imaging; and Gary Hunt, Communication Director at The Ohio Society of CPAs.

The Indiana Municipal Power Agency is the not-for-profit wholesale power provider to 61 cities and towns in Indiana and Ohio who own and operate the municipal electric distribution systems in their communities.
