Indiana Municipal Power Agency Announces Upcoming Retirement of President and CEO Raj Rao

CARMEL, IN – Raj Rao, the President and CEO of the Indiana Municipal Power Agency, has announced his retirement effective April of 2022.  Rao has led the Indiana-based wholesale power supplier for 35 years as its President and CEO.
            Rao first joined the Agency in 1983 as its Director of Engineering.  He was named CEO of IMPA in 1986 and has helmed the Agency since that time.  Under Rao’s leadership, IMPA grew from an Agency serving the wholesale power supply needs of 26 member utilities to a $2 billion organization serving 61 communities today.
            IMPA’s Board of Commissioners has established a committee to begin the search for the Agency’s next Chief Executive Officer.
 
IMPA is the wholesale power provider to 61 cities and towns throughout Indiana and Ohio that own and operate the municipal electric distribution systems in their communities.  IMPA members deliver electric service to approximately 340,000 individuals.  For more information about IMPA, visit www.impa.com.
