9/13/2021

ATLANTA, GA – Site Selection Magazine has once again named the Indiana Municipal Power Agency as one of its Top 20 U.S. Utilities in Economic Development for 2021.

In its September issue, Site Selection Magazine featured its annual rankings of Top U.S. Utilities in Economic Development. Utilities chosen for the designation are determined by examining corporate end-user project investment and affiliated job creation in those utilities’ territories the previous calendar year, evaluated on a cumulative and per-capita basis. They also consider economic development programs and incentives for business, including energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, marketing/outreach, and rates.   The Top 20 utilities chosen for inclusion on the list stand out among over 3,300 utilities across the United States.  IMPA was selected for the honor based on the job creation and capital investment commitments announced from project activity in 2020 within the IMPA service territory.

“IMPA is thrilled to be once again be recognized as one of the top U.S. utilities for economic development,” commented Bryan Brackemyre, Vice President of Member Services for IMPA.  “We take pride in working with our 61 member communities to attract businesses and industries to help grow and strengthen their economic base and quality of place.”

Recipients of the designation were selected from across the country and include investor-owned utilities, rural electric cooperatives, and municipal electric utilities as well as joint action agencies.  IMPA is the only Indiana-based utility to receive the distinction this year.

IMPA is the wholesale power provider to 61 cities and towns throughout Indiana and Ohio that own and operate the municipal electric distribution systems in their communities.  IMPA members deliver electric service to approximately 340,000 individuals.  For more information about IMPA, visit www.impa.com.
