WASHINGTON, IN – US Congressman Larry Bucshon was in Washington, Indiana on Friday to learn more about the Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) and to celebrate the municipal electric communities in the 8th Congressional District.  The event, hosted by IMPA, gave community leaders and representatives from the municipal electric communities the chance to meet with the legislators to discuss issues affecting public power communities.
“It was great to tour the Washington Solar Park today to see firsthand how municipal power utilities are supporting our local communities here in Southern Indiana and to hear directly about the issues impacting their operations,” said Congressman Bucshon. “I’m proud to support policies in Washington that will help the Hoosier municipal electric communities continue their great work.”
“Representative Bucshon has always been a strong supporter of IMPA and the ideals of municipal electric communities,” commented Raj Rao, President and CEO of IMPA.  “We sincerely appreciate his time today and for lending an ear to the concerns and issues affecting Indiana’s municipal electric utilities.”
The casual meet and greet event was held at the IMPA Washington Solar Park, one of 13 solar parks IMPA has constructed throughout the state.  The park is located on 23 acres of land and is comprised of over 15,500 solar panels.  The facility can produce up to 4 Megawatts (MW) of energy, or enough to power over 450 homes.
The Indiana Municipal Power Agency is the not-for-profit wholesale power provider to 61 cities and towns across Indiana and Ohio who own and operate the municipal electric distribution systems in their communities. IMPA member communities deliver electric service to approximately 330,000 individuals throughout the state.  For more information, visit www.IMPA.com.
