Manufacturer Growing Again in Columbia City

COLUMBIA CITY - Columbia City-based Precision Plastics Inc. is planning to add 32 jobs as part of an expansion. In addition to nearly 12,000 additional square-feet of space, the company says it will install new injection molding machinery as part of a $3 million investment.

 
Precision Plastics is one of the largest employers in the county. The company produces components for industries including automotive, agricultural, aerospace, defense and consumer. In 2014, Precision Plastics detailed plans to pump $265,000 into a warehouse facility at add up to 15 jobs. Since then, the company's work force has grown from 120 to more than 185 at its 87,000 square-foot operation.
 
Whitley County Economic Development says the project has received a ten-year tax abatement from the city and the Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered up to $150,000 in conditional training grants. EDC President Jon Myers says "Precision Plastics is a great example of one of our home-grown businesses that works daily to bring good-paying manufacturing jobs back to Northeast Indiana. As an employee-owned business, Precision Plastics' employees demonstrate every day that they can compete and win in the global marketplace."
